Cycle Kirklees response to Climate Change Action Plan
Cycle Kirklees has submitted a detailed planning objection to a large housing and industrial development. We are concerned that there is inadequate provision for cycling and walking both within the boundary of the proposed developments and in the routes to access local services and employment in Kirklees, Wakefield and Leeds districts.
Kirklees cyclists, ramblers and walkers want a comprehensive Kirklees network plan for walking and cycling, particularly to ensure new developments are required (by planning conditions) to contribute to their implementation.
“Cycling isn’t just a hobby, it’s also a mode of transport. I didn’t cycle to school. I think this is probably down to my parents and convenience, however I don’t remember anyone else cycling to school either,” says Daniel Little, Director of Little Bikers, who writes about how to get more children cycling.
